On the evenings from 26.-29. November 2012 the Dogana hall at the Kongress Innsbruck was the scene of a very special event.

M+K Reisen from Basel (Switzerland) organised a trip to Innsbruck with a gala evening for its guests. In an impressive atmosphere besides a 4 course menu also music, dance and small surprises were offered.

The musical framing was in the hands of the Gundolf family. Already during dinner a harp and accordion-duo put the guests in mood for a eventful evening. The following contemplative Christmas Concert with Tyrolean and brass music and traditional Tyrolean Christmas songs spread the Christmas mood amongst the guests, assembled in the festive adorned Dogana.

As highlight of the evening the Gundolf Family presented its Tyrolean Evening. With traditional Tyrolean dances, shoe-slapping and yodel songs as well as specials like the Singing Saw or the “Hölzernes G’lachter” (wooden xylophone) the Gundolf Family inspired guests as organizers alike.

The actb (austrian and central european travel business), a special trade fair for austrian and central european incoming agencies, took place from 22nd to 24th January 2012 and brought 422 enterprises from 48 nations to Vienna to establish new contacts as well as to strengthen existing business relationships.

Needless to say that also the Tyrolean Evening of the Gundolf Family was present, amongst others due to this year’s cultural main focus “Passion for tradition” of the Austrian National Tourist Office.

This passion for traditions, especially in connection with typical Tyrolean music, is communicated by the Gundolf Family already for more than 40 years. Their Tyrolean Evening at the restaurant Gasthaus Sandwirt am Inn presents authentic folk music, Tyrolean dances and shoe-slapping as well as typical Tyrolean songs and yodelling to an international audience. This evening is without doubt one of the highlights for visitors of the city of Innsbruck.

All of us still have the pictures of the earthquake, the tsunami and the nuclear catastrophe from Fukushima before our eyes.

To make a group of teenagers from Fukushima forget the traumatic happings in their home country, Rotary International invited them to Austria.

A highlight of the journey was the Tyrolean Evening of the Gundolf Family at the restaurant Gasthaus Sandwirt am Inn on August, 7th where a part of the Japanese group could get to know Tyrolean culture. With typical Tyrolan folk music and dances, shoe slapping and yodel songs the concerns of the girls and boys took a back seat for a while.

Also if we originate from different culture groups and speak a different language – this evening has confirmed once again: music and hospitality conncet people and become a gleam of hope in any difficult situation.
